In the time before the rising of the mists, before the time of the humans coming, Golgotha was an apprentice Necromancer. Necromancers then were not the twisted parody they are today. They helped saddened loved ones of the recently departed communicate with the dead to assure them that they had passed Elphame's judgment and were peaceful in the afterlife. Golgotha's family were Necromancers for generations and highly respected in their community.

That is until the day the mists lifted....

Duach's war with Despothes had come to a head and the barrier between worlds collapsed. As fire rained down upon the Human city of Leinster, smiting it in half. Duach's hordes flooded into the Elven and Giant lands. Chaos reigned in those few days and Golgotha's life changed forever. The Troll and Ogre hordes set upon the Elven town of Silverbrook with a vengeance. Homes, farms and shops were burned and many Elves slaughtered in that great fight.

Golgotha was not there. Golgotha was on a pilgrimage to Elphame's temple in Winterwold, only to return home and find that he was the last of the Silverbrook Necromancers to survive. His family dead, he sought solace with Elphame. The goddesses rage was great and Golgotha was bathed in her black fire, dying in the process and returned to The Realm as Elphame's vengeance personified.

Golgotha is now Wamphyri - An undead champion of the goddess of death and judgment. He now seeks tainted and blackened souls to send to Elphame so she can judge them in her black fire and assure their eternity of misery.
